Naked truth under scrutiny

A WOMAN who claims she was seen naked by a male locksmith in the changing room of her Dee Why gym has been accused of changing her story and opportunistically seeking $5000 compensation.
At the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal yesterday the Fitness First gym member, who wanted to be known only as Patricia, said she was "aghast" when she saw the man as she emerged from her shower.
She had been swimming and was naked except for a small towel wrapped around her back, to get her clothes from a locker.
"I was confronted by a young man, a locksmith, coming into the changing room," Patricia told the tribunal. "I was terribly shocked at the time."
During a heated cross-examination yesterday solicitor Mr Kent, said Patricia's story contained inconsistencies as she first claimed she was "confronted" by two men, not one.
"This never occurred and you have simply invented a story to obtain free time or some money," he said.
Mr Kent said the civil claim was "opportunistic" and Patricia had already scored 17 months free gym membership after complaints including faulty televisions and radios.
Previously Patricia, who has lodged a $5000 civil claim against Fitness First Australia Pty Ltd, said the incident left her feeling humiliated, angry and violated.
Tribunal member Maritsa Eftimiou said she would reserve her decision.
