OLYMPIAN Scott Miller spent yesterday bunkered in his Dee Why flat as investigations into a drug ring he has been accused of being part of continue.
Several people visited Mr Miller during the day, including a young woman who arrived in a beanie, but the former swimming star greeted them from inside his house.
Mr Miller's father Barry spent yesterday working on his caravan at his Elanora Heights home but did not comment when approached by The Manly Daily.
``I won't be saying anything,'' he said.
Mr Miller's former swim coach Barry Prime said he was shocked to hear about the arrest.
``I saw him at the Olympic swimming trials and said hello in passing but I haven't seen him for years,'' Mr Prime said.
Family and friends of Mr Miller's co-accused, former rugby star player Mark Catchpole were also stunned by the charges as they felt the shockwaves of Wednesday's raids.
Mr Catchpole, 40, is the son of rugby union legend Ken Catchpole.
His half-brother, Mark Rawle, who plays for the Manly-Warringah Wolves in the Sydney AFL competition, said the family was devastated by the police allegations.
``Obviously, we are very upset and in shock, mate,'' Rawle told The Manly Daily yesterday afternoon.
Mr Miller and Mr Catchpole were charged after Northern Beaches police raided a Brookvale storage warehouse and their homes on Wednesday after a two-year investigation.
The pair were charged with possession of a pill press capable of making 27,000 tablets an hour allegedly found at the warehouse.
Mr Catchpole was charged with 11 counts of drugs and firearms offences after police allegedly discovered ecstasy, speed, ice, cannabis, cocaine, a loaded gun and $224,000 in bundles of cash at his Seaforth home.
Police charged Mr Miller with possessing a proscribed, restricted substance and possessing an offensive weapon after they allegedly found steroids and capsicum spray in his unit.
Mr Catchpole remains behind bars with his bail hearing on Tuesday. Mr Miller was granted bail to appear before Manly Local Court on May 7.
