Perth to Seaforth on a pushbike

TO suggest Jordan Hanssen loves the great outdoors is a gross understatement.
The American native, a self-confessed fitness fanatic, is a glutton for punishment when it comes to pushing his body to the limit.
Hanssen recently completed a gruelling bike ride from Perth to Sydney and, while most would call it a day after cycling roughly 4000km, the 25-year-old is in the midst of planning his next around the world adventure.
"I got into rowing when I was in college at the University of Puget, south of Seattle, and it has all blossomed from that moment," he said. "Two years ago along with three of my college mates we rowed from New York to England, stopping in Falmouth, Cornwall.
"It wasn't easy, it took a little over two months, but we managed to beat three other competing teams from England, which made it that little bit sweeter.
"Australia is such an expansive country with many beautiful places to visit and you would be hard-pressed to find a better way than travelling at 12km/h soaking it up."
He acknowledged "roughing" it in rugged terrain isn't everyone's idea of luxury, revealing he spent some nights sleeping under the stars or nestled under a series of trees roadside.
"Getting up close and personal with nature is always something I have enjoyed but I do understand that people may have reservations," he said. "It can be a monk-like lifestyle but I have chosen to live this way and I have no regrets, some of the sites I have seen will live with me forever."
Hanssen completed his sojourn after arriving in Circular Quay last Thursday and spent the weekend bunked up with close friend and Seaforth resident Anthony Emmett, after the two struck up a friendship while in college.
