Hole lotta mystery going on

LACK of proper structural support is thought to be the cause of a partial road collapse in Manly yesterday morning.
A large hole threatened to open up and swallow a number of cars and a bus that drove over the unstable section of Belgrave St before police could set up a road block covering it.
Originally it was believed a Sydney Water sewer main was to blame. However, a spokesman for Sydney Water said after investigating the area's main, a crew found it to be undamaged.
According to the spokesman, responsibility lies with the RTA.
A spokeswoman for the RTA said the road was "being excavated to investigate the cause of the subsidence".
"We don't know what is going on and what happened," the spokeswoman said. "(But) we are going to work through the night."
Until the investigations had been finished it is also not possible to say when the road will be reopened.
All traffic heading towards Manly Wharf has now been diverted up Sydney Rd.
