TALENTED musicians will be fine-tuning their instruments and making beautiful music with the peninsula's first homegrown youth orchestra in training.
Practise sessions are now in their second week at St Augustine's College, Brookvale, with 35 people aged between 14 and 24 in the project.
After a tough audition process, the chosen few are being whipped into shape by acclaimed conductors Stephen Williams and Martin Hardy.
Louise Brown, who jointly conceptualised the orchestra, said the orchestra had several concert dates in the pipeline, including one at the Opera House, and the inaugural performance was planned for August.
The orchestra has snagged famous jazz musician James Morrison as its patron and will eventually perform at high-profile civic ceremonies.
The project is backed by all three northern beaches councils, which have provided some financial backing.
