AN ARTICLE entitled "Lip biter may be free in months" in The Manly Daily on Tuesday incorrectly described Helen Syme as a deputy chief registrar.
She is in fact a Deputy Chief Magistrate at Central Local Court.
It also stated that Diar Abdullar, 29, who was enrolled at the International College of Management at North Head, could continue his studies on the peninsula.
This was a reference to comments made by his lawyer Paul Ekstein who said it was hoped he could continue his studies depending on his immigration status.
However, it is anticipated that Abdullah, who was in Australia on a Swedish scholarship, will be deported following his release from Long Bay Correctional Complex.
He pleaded guilty to maliciously wounding English backpacker Adam Haslam, 23, during a brawl at the New Brighton Hotel and was sentenced to 17 months jail with a non-parole period of nine months.
